I have been browsing around looking for different types off Body Ink Art, and stumbled upon Inner Lip Tattoos or lipstick lips tattoo. Sounds like something new and different. Apparently it's the newest craze!
What Is a Lipstick Lips Tattoo?
Getting a lipstick lips tattoo is currently becoming very popular. It is when you have a motive, name, symbol, number or other small design tattooed on the inner part of your bottom lip. (Getting it on your top lip is also possible but not the norm.)
Who Should get one?
If you are someone burning to get a some ink done, but don't really want anyone to see it unless you show it to them (no-one will see this tattoo unless you show them the inside of your bottom lip) or if you want a tattooed name of someone you have a special relationship or friendship with, this could also work for you, especially if you are still uncertain about the relationship, because not only are they easy to hide but they are also known to fade quite fast unless you go for touch ups.
How Long do They Last?
How long the lip tats last differs from person to person. A lipstick lips tattoo can last between 1-5 years if you continue going for touch ups but usually they fade quite quickly and some of them can even fade or smudge within a week.. This is because your inner lip is constantly wet so it doesn't really seal the ink in like skin tattoos. Plus your saliva breaks down the ink like it would food. You have to get it touched up at least 4 or 5 times before it stays more permanent. So make sure you go to a professional tattoo artist who has experience with lipstick lips tattooing. A tip to apparently make them last a bit longer is to place a piece of tissue paper between your lips after the work is done, to give the pigment or ink a better chance of penetrating deeper.
How much do Lipstick Lips Tattoos hurt?
The level of pain like with all tattoos also differ from person to person. Some people say that it's the most painful place to get a tattoo, and some say that it's a misconception that lip tattoos hurt the most. So I think it is safe to say that it would hurt just as much as any other tattoo on your body would. Another thing to remember is that a lip tattoo also leaves a funny taste in your mouth, which is normal because of the blood and ink. (So don't panic.) Tip: the artist must be experienced and be able to do your lip tattoo without hurting the veins that you have in your lip.
Lipstick Lips Tattoo After Care!
All tattoos require after care and lipstick lips tattoos are no different. You cannot eat or drink anything directly after a lip tattoo is done and in the long run you will probably have to rinse your mouth after eating, drinking and smoking so be sure to take the after care advice from your tattoo artist. But here are some general tips: do not use normal mouthwash, the chemicals will make it fade faster. (Use antibacterial or alcohol free.) Do not pick at it or rub it because if you cause it to bleed you will lose pigment. Do not suck on your lip and stay away or limit your intake of citrus fruits and alcohol.
What do Lipstick Lips Tattoos cost?
they are usually more expensive than other tattoos because it is a difficult place for a tattoo even though the process itself is usually quite quick. You have to take into account that lip tattoos need constant touch ups and some tattoo artists include the touch ups in their price. That being said you can expect to pay between $50 - $100 depending on the popularity and status of your tattoo artist/shop.
in closing: remember to always go to a professional tattoo artist with a good record of tattooing hygienically in a sterile environment because the lip is sensitive and could get easily infected and the possibility is always also there that you could have an allergic reaction to the ink.So, do you dare to get lipstick lips tattoo?
